Fusion analytics world : Kalyan Banga

Q1.How would you describe ‘Fusion analytics world’ in under 50 words

Fusion Analytics World is world's first ever one stop platform for big data, data mining, data science, and business analytics and data visualization. The platform intends to provide a holistic view of the Analytics industry by bringing together all ecosystem players within the global Analytics industry.

Q2.Who is the team behind your venture?

Kalyan Banga is the Founder & Principal Analytics Consultant of Fusion Analytics World. He is a Post Graduate in Business Analytics from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta, a premier global management institute. He has spent 6 years in field of Analytics.

His overall exposure spans 14+ years of rich experience in domain of business analytics, market research, management consulting and strategy. His multi-country and multi-cultural experience enhances his technical Analytics expertise to steer businesses towards facts and data supported decisions prime to the local business culture and environment. Kalyan’s work exposure spans from mature market like US to developing market like India. For the past 3 years, he has been instrumental in setting up of a Business Analytics & Intelligence team in a multinational Analytics company based on North America. During these years, he has worked on various tools like R, SAS, SPSS and XLMiner.

Q3.How did you come across this idea? What was missing from the current solutions that you are seeking to fix?

Idea came from the lack of one stop platform that caters to everything in ‘analytics’. I was visiting several websites for different requirements, so felt the need for a one stop place for anything & everything on ‘analytics’ and that’s when the idea of building Fusion Analytics World came to my mind.

Fusion Analytics World platform is poised to become ‘The Analytics Encyclopedia’ for the world analytics community. We would be adding more menu/features in 2017 as part of our strategy. There is no other website serving the community which is providing everything under one platform.

Q4.What was technically the most challenging part of developing the website?

While developing my website ‘Fusion Analytics World’, the biggest challenge was conceptualizing the thought that I had in my mind and then giving it the needed shape in the form of a website. I had to keep in mind, looks, feel, ease of browsing and yet offer readers a platform that becomes a one stop place for everything in ‘analytics’.

Q5.What is the biggest hurdle you have faced or are still facing?

Finding adequate time to devote on quality content, market the brand, talk to various partners/authors to tie-up for mutual benefit, get website advertisement from ecosystem players….all these activities are time consuming and since I juggle between my day job and my website ‘Fusion Analytics World’, I would say finding adequate time is the most challenging part.

Q6.If you could only give one piece of advice, what would it be?

Time management is very critical; I keep a timeline for each activity, plan it right at the start of the day and follow it as much as you can, also have weekly and monthly calendar with sketch of what you want to achieve in the that week/month.

Q7.How has the growth been since launch and what are the future plans?

It has been quite encouraging till now with lot of good feedback from readers and potential partners. We are climbing quickly on the Alexa website rank, Startup SR score, Global scores and our website visitors are returning frequently due to great content that we are providing continuously.

We are events partners of the mega Data Science Congress event in Mumbai this June. We have got “A grade” for website SEO and we just got an award for the top technology startup and all these achievements came within 6 months of our launch!

Q8.What is your one tip for aspiring entrepreneurs?

My advice to all the budding entrepreneurs, it’s good to chase your dreams but first be very clear about your business model & differentiating factors from competition and have a clear thought on how you will get your first few paying customers. If you can nail these, success will be yours.

I have seen people failing in their business with a good idea just because they cannot convince customers to buy their product/service. Also do keep in mind, it would not be a smooth ride, so be prepared for a bumpy ride, just be excited and have patience and back yourself.

Q9.Do you have any new offerings in the pipeline?

Yes, we do have a few new pages to be launched in Q2 this year which will offer more interaction with readers, more analyst based views and guidance for CXO’s.
